There are, essentially, three ways, of varying complexity, to do this trip.

Simplest

The easiest way to go from FRA to Bavaria is to take the first S-Bahn (S8 or S9) you can from track 1 of the Regional Bahnhof, underground and across the street from Terminal 1 of the airport, to the tief (= deep) S-Bahn station under the Hauptbahnhof, where you catch one of the hourly RE's to Würzburg. This way is the simplest way, as to which train to take at what time. However, it does require about 10 minutes to come up several levels (by escalators or elevators) to the main track level of the Hbf. Click here for a layout of the ground level of the Hauptbahnhof and the S-Bahn station under it.

Caution: Frankfurt Hbf (tief) is NOT the last station on the S8 and S9 lines. It is the third station after the airport. The previous station is Frankfurt-Niederrad. Be alert so you don't fail to get off.
